Haliburton Forest - Canada's First Certified, Sustainable Forest

Pictured is four members of a pack of Grey Wolves kept and studied in a large 15 acre enclosure as part of the Haliburton Forest Wolf Centre.

A New Years trip at the end of 2007 included a trip to Haliburton Forest and Wild Life Reserve.
It is a significant conservation model since it is privately owned, and operates as a successful business, but also addresses the long term requirements for sustainable resource use. It is also unique in that it was the first forest in Canada to be certified as a sustainable forest under the guidelines of the international Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). We had a terrific time exploring the area on snow mobile after recent large snowfalls.
